How to Blow Dry Hair Straight

December 21, 2011 by admin

Getting sexy, sleek fashionable straight hair is possible to do yourself if you have the right tools and take the time to learn how to blow dry hair straight properly. Beauty and fashion experts agree that the keys to achieving a beautiful look are the right products for your hair type, high-quality brushes, a blow dryer with multiple heat settings including cold, and the willingness to take the time to do it right. The first step is to wash your hair and apply a conditioning rinse. Towel dry your hair and be sure it’s not dripping, and apply a detangler if necessary.

Next, apply a product that provides heat protection all the way through, especially to the ends, followed by a small amount (about the size of a quarter) of a straightening balm. Massage it evenly into your hair by first rubbing it between your palms and then onto the hair using your palms and fingertips. How to blow dry hair straight depends on the look you want, whether it’s stick straight or with more volume and texture. For stick straight hair use a flat-headed paddle brush, but for more volume and texture, use a round brush. Use a larger brush for longer hair.

If your hair is apt to become frizzy or curly, do not use your fingers to comb through fragile wet hair. A high-quality brush, particularly one with boar bristles, will produce the smoothest, sleekest look. Dividing your hair into sections from front to back and top to bottom to work with separately is how to blow dry hair straight and evenly. With the blow dryer set on low heat, take a small amount of hair, place the brush at the roots and pull it toward the ends in straight motion with the dryer 6 inches above it. Continue with the next section.

When the brush reaches the end of the hair, angle it to give it the desired look, whether it’s flipped up or tucked under. A gorgeous look is simple when you know how to blow dry hair straight. Always keep the brush under the hair and the dryer above it, blowing down from root to tip. Keep the dryer moving to avoid over-drying and uneven texture. Do not apply heat to already dry hair but use the cold setting if needed. The entire process is likely to take 30-40 minutes, so be patient. Doing it too fast will cause hair to become frizzy.

If you want to more easily achieve that straight hair look while keeping it healthy and shiny, the Farouk CHI Hair Dryer is the perfect choice. This blow dryer produces ionic positive energy or in other words, it uses a moist heat so that you can use less conditioner (which typically flattens and dulls hair) to create the styles you want.
